Most mall stores like Claire's or those kiosks in the center will do them at 4mths old. i had my daughters done at claires when she was about 4mths old. They never got infected either.

We pierced our daughter's ears after she had her three month vaccinations. We wanted to do it while she was still too adolescent to tug on them, and it worked out precisely! I fervour that her ears are pierced, singularly since she doesn't have enough plaits for us to use a bow yet (even though she is almost ten months old already). We never had any problems with healing or with her messing with them, and she never so much as cried when I cleaned them three times a day! I be sure I will get a lot flack for this but.... I loathe to see babies ears pierced. I worked at Claires as a teen and pierced a lot of baby ears and let me command you a few things- If the baby isn't wake up, you can give it a kindliness set. Something that does not chance with a more au fait neonate. Rare, yes but it happens. Also, there is a tendancy that while the holes materialize *and could really be* even, when the sprog grows (as does the ear lobes) that the holes will now become biased. This does not encounter as many a time in older children. And in the long run, you are more odds-on to show a metal allergy from unwavering laying open *like an ear penetrating* at a younger age then if you delayed it. My sister developed one!
