In a case study a buyer buying a book, of the so many classes identified by our teacher, i did not understand?

There was a savoir vivre BOOK and a separate class BOOKITEM. BOOK had attributes litt, title etc and BOOKITEM had attributes, dateShipped,Status etc. I do not gather the logic.

Fred wrote and published a tome.
John and Mary both bought a copy of the book.
