i am planing to use a laptop for watching D.V.D's, storing music and videos (using itunes). As well as doing central homework taskse.g using internet wordetc... would the Acer Aspire 5920G Gemstone laptop be sutible.

Yes, don;t keep in view game sot be playable, but for all the things you mentioned, it will be apropriate. ACER doesn't promulgate a quality poduct, but as long as you buy a service plan, you'd never have to trouble about it.
