Does anyone know the name of a purple gemstone that changes colors in different lighting conditions?

It is not an amythyst or an opal. It's a purple stone that changes to sad or red, and sometimes has flecks of green in it. I have a ring like that, but I can't think of the name of the stone. Any gemologists or jewelers out there?

It de facto is best if you have a photo to show us. (If you do, drop me a message on my 360). But from what you've described, I imagine you may have either a Topaz that has been coated to produce this sort of effect (pursuit name - Mystic Topaz) or a synthetic color change
