I have a as a whole malachite and pewter ( i think) necklace, and the malachite is getting all scratched and dull. is there anything i can use to cleansed/polish it? I tried toothpaste at the advice of a dealer, but it neutral made it more dull.
Malachite is a very delicate stone (hardness on the Moh's scale of only 4). That means, rubbing it with abrasive toothpaste will devastate the polish as you found out. If you have cleaned the necklace with luke warm water and a fragment of dish washing liquid and the stones are
